
The first lavender graduation began at The University of Michigan in 1995, with three graduates. By 2001, there were over 45 Lavender Graduation Ceremonies at colleges and universities nationwide. Miami is excited to be one of these institutions honoring the lives and achievements of our LGBT graduates. Read more about Lavender Graduation Ceremonies.
The 2009 Lavender Graduation ceremony was held on Sunday, May 3, on the Miami University campus.
The event honored all
graduates by calling their names and presenting them with a
certificate and rainbow tassel. In addition, the 1809 LGBT
Alumni Roy Bowen Ward Scholarship was awarded.
